June 20th, 2001. With recent research pointing to high growth in 'desktop' or PC-based PCB design, Zuken has set up a new CADSTAR Business Unit to focus resources on the needs of customers in this area. Mark Thompson, previously the company's Northern Europe Sales Manager, has been appointed to head the new unit.

Commenting on the new organisation, Thompson said:

We are investing heavily in its development and introducing advanced technologies from our enterprise-wide Board Integrity Solution into CADSTAR so that customers can be first to market with their electronic products. The new CADSTAR Business Unit will concentrate on listening to our customers and developing CADSTAR to meet their changing needs."

A major upgrade to the tool set, CADSTAR 5.0, is due to be launched later this year.
