Multi-Pin Passive Components

CADSTAR now supports multi-pin passive components, such as resistor packs.

To define a passive component, the attribute 'passive_connectivity' needs to be added to the appropriate part definition using the CADSTAR Library Editor. The value of this attribute should then be set to indicate the internal connectivity of the component.

For example, an 8-pin, 4-element resistor pack would have the attribute set to '1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5', indicating that pin 1 is internally connected to pin 8, pin 2 is internally connected to pin 7 etc.

If the part has already been loaded into the design it will be necessary to reload it from the library in order for this new attribute to be picked up.

It is also necessary to either set up the 'elec_type' attribute on the part or add appropriate passive component information to the Constraints tab of the Options dialog, in the same way as is done for regular 2-pin passive components.
